Jonathan worked for Berean Baptist for a period of 2 years, starting October 2008 through September 2010. During that time Jonathan and Joanna did everything that was asked of them and even went beyond what was expected. Joanna grew up at Berean Baptist during her teen years and was supported financially during her tenure at Baptist Bible College.
Jonathan and Joanna have both been loyal and supportive of the ministry here at Berean Baptist it is for that reason that I whole heartedly recommend them as missionaries and would ask for support from other churches of like faith. Jonathan and Joanna have the full support of our church families who fell in love with them during their stay here at Berean Baptist.
I have never met another young couple that possessed such a passion both for God and for the field which God has called them to. It would be my hope that whoever reads this letter would consider supporting such a worthy couple
Pastor Don Weakland, Berean Baptist Church — Albuquerque, NM
It is with great pleasure that I recommend Jon and Joanna Liggett to part of the missions endeavor of your church. I have known them for six-years, and have been thoroughly impressed with their commitment to the Lord, and to the work of His ministry.
I had the privilege of working alongside the Liggetts at Berean Baptist Church, Bolivar, MO for several years, as well as working with Jonathon in the corporate world. While I enjoyed ministering with them, and saw them grow and develop as a ministry couple, it wasn’t until their decision to teach English in Korea that I really saw God molding their future ministry. The sacrifice they made to love those individuals, and be fiscally responsible to pay off any college debts, revealed a great deal to me about their character.
I have also been privileged to enjoy fellowship with Jon during his internship. He has called me on a number of occasions, seeking advice, sharing burdens and frustrations, and even thinking through theological questions. This friendship has helped me greatly, as I endeavored through the church planting process.
It is because of the wonderful testimony of Jonathon, and his incredible wife Joanna, that Riverside Baptist Church wholly endorses their work, not only with this letter, but with the fact that they are the first missionaries in our first missions conference this November, and will be the recipients of our first monthly support.
Please accept my unmitigated recommendation, and send this fantastic couple as quickly as possible.

During the last couple of years that Jonathan and Joanna Liggett were at Baptist Bible College, I was not only one of their professors, but also their Pastor at Berean Baptist Church, Bolivar, MO. In addition we spent three weeks together in Colombia, South America, fulfilling the Faculty Directed Field Study for their graduation. I know this couple well, and I am convinced they will do a work for God no matter where He chooses to place them on this globe. I have no doubt that any investment your church should make in their ministry will produce spiritual dividends to your account. God’s speed to them both is my prayer!
Rev David Lingo — Bolivar, MO
I have known the Liggett family for approximately five years. I am pleased to recommend them to you and to your church.
I had a chance to get to know Jonathan and Joanna while they attended Berean Baptist Church, Bolivar, MO. They were members of my college class while they attended Baptist Bible College. During that time, I was able to watch them grow in the Lord and become active in ministry. The congregation was excited to see them secure an internship as they continued work towards getting to the mission field. They were very well liked.
Jonathan and Joanna have been back several times since the pastors of the BBFI approved them as missionaries. I have been impressed to see their growth in terms of public ministry. They were both in my adult Sunday school class recently and did a great job communicating in a smaller group. They were also at our missions conference this past April. Jonathan did a great job preaching in the morning and leading a question/answer session that evening. It was very informative. We have taken them on for monthly support.
Since the missions conference my wife and I reflected on the Liggett’s ministry. We are very pleased to see how they have matured from college students to missionaries. They handle themselves well in public and communicate well. Jonathan handles God’s word effectively and preaches well. They are passionate about ministry, reaching the lost and serving as missionaries. They are realistic about the difficulties of ministry but understand that the Lord is able to work through them. They have made connections with other missionaries and even now are developing possible strategies to make contacts that they might share the gospel.
I do understand that at some level we take chances when supporting missionaries especially when we do not know them well. I personally believe that Jonathan and Joanna will be long-term and stable missionaries. I believe you and your church will be excited about how the Liggetts may represent your church as they win souls and plant churches. The Liggetts will represent your congregation well and honor the Lord as your missionaries.

My family had the opportunity of getting to know Jonathan and Joanna while we were members of Berean Baptist Church in Bolivar, MO. There we were able to see their heart for ministry as they led the Little Lights children’s program. They are a hard-working couple with cross-cultural experience under their belt. They will be a blessing to your church, and a great addition to your missions program.

Jonathan and Joanna both have a desire to follow God, to go where He wants, to do what He desires. With that kind of a heart attitude, God will use them in a great way. Jonathan and Joanna would make a great addition to your church’s world outreach team.
