Jonathan grew up as a pastor’s son. Through his father’s testimony and ministry, he accepted Christ at the age of 7. He entered Bible College to gain more biblical knowledge and to wait on God’s leading. While at college, Jonathan was able to serve in bus and children’s ministries. During his junior year, he felt God burdening him for missions and surrendered to serve God as a missionary.
At the age of 7, Joanna felt the need to receive Christ and asked her father to guide her. Soon after that, while listening to a missionary speak, she felt the Lord leading her into missions. She grew up in church and was active in her youth group and children’s ministries. She took her first mission trip after High School, then attended and graduated from Baptist Bible College with a degree in missions.
Jonathan and Joanna were married in August of 2005. Together they have served Christ in a variety of ministries in the United States and abroad. After graduating from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO they worked as English teachers while living and ministering in South Korea. Jonathan was privileged to preach in a Korean church and on a radio program broadcast to millions of people throughout Asia. Joanna had the opportunity to sing, speak on the radio, and be involved in a woman’s Bible study. They were also able to minister with a local orphanage.
Following their time in South Korea they served their internship in at Berean Baptist Church in Albuquerque, NM where Don Weakland is the pastor from 2008-2010. Jonathan served in the capacity of an Assocaite Pastor while teaching the youth and preaching Sunday evenings and filling in for the pastor on Sunday mornings when he was away.
In 2010 they were approved as missionaries through the Baptist Bible Fellowship International to the field of Italy. While in Italy Jonathan and Joanna were able help on the ground level of a local church plant and help in youth camp ministries. In 2014 God closed the door to Italy through the denial of visas to stay. Still having the call to serve God on the foreign field they changed fields to Guatemala where they are currently involved in church planting.
Jonathan and Joanna have two children; a daughter Piper, born in 2010, and a son Kamden, born in 2013.
